In this edition of Whisky Under Fifty, we're looking at an indie blend. Here at the Dram Team we're big fans of independent bottlers and the terrific work they do. This time, we're looking at an indie label called Easy Sipper from independent bottler The Whisky Cellar.

Keith has a few brands. The Whisky Cellar is his range of premium single cask whiskies. We've previously written about Brig O'Perth. Easy Sipper is aimed at welcoming new folk into the world of whisky. They are easy going, on the sweeter side, and aim to make whisky more approachable.

For this Whisky Under £50 feature we're looking at the Easy Sipper North British 11 Year Old. Perfect for enjoying during late evening sunshine.

Easy Sipper: North British 11 Year Old

Keith selected an 11 year old single grain whisky from North British distillery in Edinburgh for this Easy Sipper. All of the barrels used in this release are first fill American oak, previously used to age bourbon. The grain whiskies are at least 11 years old. The combination of grain whisky and bourbon barrels gives a sweet, easy-drinking whisky to kick back and enjoy.

Tasting notes

Nose: Creamy-sweet vanilla wafers.

Taste: Desiccated coconut, Kinder Bueno, brown sugar, sugared almonds, lemon curd, nutmeg.

Finish: Sweet, buttery and creamy with hints of toffee popcorn.
