Uncharted's blended malts are an artform in their own right. Here, Highland malt whisky was aged in ex-bourbon wood before Jack and Dana transferred it into a single Sauternes barrique - a wine so rarefied, Château d'Yquem claim it takes an entire vine to yield just one glass of the stuff. The result is a golden dram as rich and generous as its name suggests. Neil Young would be proud!

Tasting notes:

Nose: Stone fruit leads the way, with pineapple, dried apricots and lemon sherbets.

Palate: Candied pineapple accompanies an unctuous, buttery mouthfeel. Honey and brioche flavours then take the floor.

Finish: Long, sweet, and bowl of peaches and cream.

Speys. The final frontier. Two casks of 2013 Speyside spirit - one finished in Moscatel, one in Mezcal - blended together in what Uncharted call a "mad scientist-esque experiment". This is the kind of alternative creation that makes the indie world so exciting. An oddity and an odyssey - Bowie would be wowed!

Tasting notes:

Nose: Juicy melon and ripe peach lead the way, lifted by delicate rose petals and fresh pear, with a whisper of mezcal smoke.

Palate: Moscatel introduces honey alongside dried fig, a waft of kitchen spice cupboard and warming cloves, all mellowing into earthy mezcal cask.

Finish: Long and opulent, with gentle smoke, lingering sweetness and a twist of orange rind.

Perched at 350 metres in the hills of Glenlivet, Braeval is one of Scotland's highest distilleries. Built in 1973 as Braes of Glenlivet, its tall, slender pot stills produce a light and delicate spirit that has long been the tasty backbone of Chivas Regal. You've probably not tasted Braeval before as a single malt - which makes this first-fill oloroso barrique bottling all the more (Stevie) wonderful.

Tasting notes:

Nose: A classic sherry bomb. Bright and fruity distillate lying under rich butterscotch and sticky toffee pudding.

Palate: Rich and generous with sticky dates, cinnamon swirl pastry and melted vanilla ice cream.

Finish: Gentle and slow to leave, with butterscotch oozing off the palate to reveal oak and the waft of a spice cupboard.

Sometimes great whisky casks come with a catch: "you can bottle it, but you can't use the name." Here Jack and Dana work artfully around this constraint, with Park Life being a not-so-subtle hint as to the Orkney origin of this incredible 20 year old liquid (though we think perhaps they could have just ...blurred out the name!). This is the #1 smash hit of a dram that led to us discovering Uncharted in the first place.

Tasting notes:

Nose: Fragrant bay leaf and fresh lemon zest intertwine with oak and a grounding earthiness.

Palate: Golden syrup, buttery popcorn and warm nutmeg, followed by soft florals, heather, and a touch of spice.

Finish: A gentle wisp of smoke lingers, with smooth caramel sweetness and a salty swish as a theatrical finale.

A collaboration with the esteemed whisky purveyors at TopWhiskies.com, this is a stunning single PX cask of Speyside's Auchroisk - long the heartbeat of the famous J&B blend. Much like Braeval, Auchroisk rarely gets a single malt spotlight, so this 19 year old take is a special treat.

Tasting notes:

Nose: Rich and inviting, with dark dried fruits - raisins, dates, sultanas - layered over honeyed malt. Treacle, soft toffee, orange peel and fig jam.

Palate: Full-bodied PX richness: dark chocolate, molasses and stewed fruits. Mid-palate balance of nutmeg, black pepper and a hint of espresso bitterness.

Finish: Long and satisfying - dried fruit, cocoa and sweet spice.

Loch Lomond distillery is our favourite Willy Wonka's whisky factory - capable of producing eight different styles of malt spirit from a remarkable collection of stills. Unpeated and floral, Inchmurrin is the lightest and most fragrant of them all. Distilled in 1997, this private cask release spent its entire 24 years in a single ex-bourbon barrel, yielding just 76 bottles. An extraordinary way to end Uncharted's epic dram-based playlist.

Tasting notes:

Old fashioned dunnage warehouse earthiness, vanilla, tart tropical fruits, crisp ripe red summer apples, followed by a wave of sweetness.
