Earlier this year, we came across historic spirits retailers Nickolls & Perks at a local whisky festival, and were so blown away by their new independent bottling range that we reached out to them to feature them in this very special edition of Incredible Indies. We hope you enjoy their fantastic drams as much as we did that day!

Incredible Indies: Nickolls & Perks, August 2025 Box
Nickolls & Perks Foursquare 15 Year Old Exclusive
Is this The Rum Team?! Somewhat sacrilegiously, we happen to believe great rums can be as good as great whiskies, so when Nickolls & Perks offered us a very special exclusive from rum titan Foursquare, we could not resist. Taste it, and we suspect you'll forgive us!
Tasting notes:
Nose: Dehydrated mangos and pineapple, boozy chocolates and brown banana. Leather tobacco pouch, plum wine, dates and black coffee, with molasses and vanilla.
Palate: Bright popping-candy and desiccated tropical fruits with cooked banana. Water brings caramel and earthiness. Nutmeg and cinnamon spice up chewy molasses and vanilla.
Finish: A tingling spice and Cuban cigar note draw out long after each sip.
Nickolls & Perks White Peak 2019 4 Year Old Madeira Finish
Crafted solely from English barley and fermented using live yeast from a famed local brewery, White Peak's award-winning whiskies are characterful, robust and lightly peated. Here the Madeira cask, which spent its final months in the warmer upper levels of their warehouse, gives a fuller and more pronounced flavour profile.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Salted toffee and almond baklava, before honeyed porridge with wedges of green apple. A delicate smoke conjures notes of antique furniture.
Palate: Biscoff and Creme Caramel meet the palate.
Finish: Demerara sugar, cinnamon and orange zest drawing long into the finish.
Nickolls & Perks Cotswolds Distillery 2017 7 Year Old Ruby Port Cask
Lush in its rolling greenery and arable farmland, the Cotswolds is an iconic piece of England. The Cotswolds Distillery harnesses these strengths, using solely locally grown barley to produce a fruit-forward style of malt. This expression was matured exclusively in a single first-fill ruby Port hogshead for seven years.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Cripps Pink apples drizzled with syrup, followed by raspberry tart and Eton Mess adorned with crushed walnut.
Palate: Vibrant, bringing pomegranate juice and redcurrant with hints of nutmeg and sweet tobacco.
Finish: Clean and fresh, with a lasting tannic grip.
Nickolls & Perks Highland Park 13 Year Old Exclusive
Drawn from a single first-fill American oak sherry hogshead after 13 years of maturation, this exclusive release of Orkney's most famous single malt yielded just 304 bottles at whopping cask strength.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Burnt orange and oak beams submerged in sticky banana pudding. Tobacco and dark chocolate with salt flakes before double chocolate & vanilla cookies, infused with a subtle smoke. Water reveals a rich, oozing, smoked Sticky Toffee Pudding.
Palate: High-cacao, dusty, chilli chocolate, harbouring black pepper and salt crystals. Lots of cinnamon spice before nutmeg. Time turns spicy textures into a creamy barley porridge.
Finish: Leather and oak spice.
Nickolls & Perks Ardnamurchan 2019 5 Year Old Peated PX
Situated on the most westerly point of the mainland, Ardnamurchan is a new but highly esteemed distillery. This peated spirit aged in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry cask. After nearly two days of cask sampling, the Nickolls & Perks team were all drawn to a halt with its character, and the rest is history!
Tasting notes:
Nose: Oolong tea and lit charcoal brick. Amongst the embers, damp mulch and thick Autumnal air with wisps of sea spray and blackberry jam.
Palate: Overripe plums and black pepper precede cinnamon and dark chilli chocolate dipped into espresso.
Finish: Leather and liquorice draw long into the finish.
Nickolls & Perks Bruichladdich 2005 18 Year Old
One of Nickolls & Perks’ first ever independent bottling releases and boy, did they come out swinging. Bruichladdich is an iconic Islay distillery with a dedicated fan base, and this is one of the best examples we've ever had the pleasure of. So good in fact, that it led us to reach out to Nickolls & Perks to make this collaboration happen!
Tasting notes:
Nose: Cappuccino with a freshly baked brioche and pain au chocolat, followed by marzipan and coconut & citrus yoghurt.
Palate: White chocolate with a smattering of salt and pepper. Flat white coffee with chocolate eclair.
Finish: Creamy and moreish finish.
