In one of our recent whisky tasting boxes, our members tried some incredible independent bottlings from cask-strength fanatics, The Single Cask. Established in 1948, Douglas Laing is a leading independent blender and bottler specialising in the creation of artisan, small-batch and Single Cask Scotch Whiskies. We were fortunate to Meet Cara Laing, Director of Whisky at Douglas Laing.

Cara is a third-generation Laing and we wanted to find out what’s been happening since they purchased their new distillery, how COVID-19 has impacted them, and what the future holds for this family-run business.

As you can probably tell, we love independent bottlers like Douglas Laing, above all else for the sheer range of amazing opportunities to explore whisky they offer. From humble beginnings, taking over the production and distribution of then-tiny blended Scotch brand King of Scots, Douglas Laing & Co have definitely had what you'd call a storied past.
