Day 9 - Secret Distillery #1, 9 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Co.)

Laid-back Sunday wishes, whisky-lovers!

If you're not feeling quite into the Christmas spirit yet, 25 Days of Drams has the whisky to help you get there today.

Before we tuck in, if you don't know what 25 Days of Drams is, then catch up with our introduction and drop in on any days you've missed here.

(and don't forget to answer the survey after signing up so we can make the advent calendar of your drams next year!)

So, what is Day 9's festive-cheer-inducing drop?

It's a single malt whisky from Secret Distillery #1, the 9 Year Old, Batch 2 bottling by That Boutique-y Whisky Co. For reasons we'll get into below, it's a very fitting Christmas dram:

Recap: For each day of the 25 (we're Christmas day drammers here at the Dram Team), I'm going to give a few brief reasons I think each dram is worth your time and attention - which are the same reasons I picked each one to be in our boxes in the first place. And, we're giving away the full set of drams:

Reasons why Chris recommends this whisky:

Reason 1 - Independent bottlings from this particular distillery don't often see the light of day. It's a fiercely independent family-owned Speyside distillery, famed for its use of sherry casks. Any ideas yet?

Reason 2 The label on the original bottle is brilliant (all of Boutique-y's labels are, to be honest!), and holds further clues to the distillery's true identity (you can see it here if you like). Recognise that red door at all?

Reason 3 - It tastes AMAZING. It really is even more Christmassy than normal Glenfarclas (oops!). Yes - that's right, it's a cask strength independent bottling from the world-famous Glenfarclas distillery, and it's Christmas in a bottle. Cheers!
