Day 4 - Orkney Islands 15 Year Old (Berry Bros & Rudd)

Tuesday greetings Dram Teamers!

First off, if you don't know what 25 Days of Drams is, then catch up with our introduction and drop in on any days you've missed here.

Most importantly - once you've entered, please, please fill out the survey to tell us about your dream advent calendar of drams!

On to Day 4...and boy, it's a stonker :-)

Once again, today's dram features in our "A Very Sherry Whiskymas" Christmas box, which is available now and will hit our subscribers' letter boxes just before Christmas.

It's the Orkney Islands 15 Year Old by the UK's oldest independent bottler, Berry Bros & Rudd.

But what rather famous distillery is it from? Join me for a little insider info:

Recap: For each day of the 25 (we're Christmas day drammers here at the Dram Team), I'm going to give a few brief reasons I think each dram is worth your time and attention - which are the same reasons I picked each one to be in our boxes in the first place. And, we're giving away the full set of drams:

Reasons why Chris recommends this whisky:

Reason 1 - It's from Berry Bros & Rudd, the UK's oldest independent bottler, and one of very few whisky makers whose product bears a royal seal. They have a long history of putting excellent liquid in bottles, so their bottlings are always worth your attention. Also, their labels are stylish and ace!

Reason 2 It's an independent bottling of single malt from a very famous Orcadian distillery, which is quite different from that same distillery's own releases (Hint: It's not Scapa!)

Reason 3 - It is cask strength and full maturation sherry butt, so it packs an absolute wallop of complex aroma and flavour. It requires some time in the glass (or bottle open) to really show its true potential, so don't rush this one.
