Yesterday The Dram Team made a run North for the border, and, with a tip of the hat to irony, reverse-smuggled several crates of fine Scotch back into Scotland for a trial production run.
Why on earth were we doing this, you might ask?
Well, sparing you the manifest boring details, the EU Scotch Whisky Regulations, which exist to protect Scotch from reputational abuse, mean the production of a Scotch Whisky product has to happen entirely within Scotland - even re-bottling for miniatures.
So, to stay on the right side of the law, off we set with a boot-load of Scotch to Premier Bonding Co. in East Kilbride - a HMRC-verified bottler and labeller of Scotch.
Sadly, we left Scotland empty-handed, as a postal delay meant product labels hadn't arrived on site.
We're hoping to get our hands on the very first batch of trial boxes late next week and share gloriously shiny product photographs with you, but until then, here are some highlights from the trip.
